A significant need exists in the Central Virginia region for programs and services that focus on those with special needs, injured military personnel and veterans. Making Strides of Virginia is successfully serving our target demographic via individualized and group adaptive riding and driving lessons as well as equestrian care education and hands-on activities. Through our programs, we help improve the physical and emotional needs of our community, brighten lives, and assist each participant in achieving their personal goals.
Our activities are directed by a group of highly-qualified therapists, certified riding instructors and individuals with years of equestrian and adaptive services experience. Our diverse staff members have deep ties to the community and possess the unique ability to relate to our target demographic. Additionally, our Board of Directors is comprised of a professional group of talented individuals who have dedicated their time and resources to building a premier program and a stronger community.
Making Strides of Virginia is especially proud of our partnership with SOAR 365’s – Camp Baker. Camp Baker is a full-service handicap-equipped retreat located in southern Chesterfield County. Camp Baker has been serving children with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1929 providing a rewarding camp experience for individuals with disabilities as well as Respite Care, Adult Day Support, and after school services. Making Strides of Virginia has partnered with Camp Baker to provide highly expanded equestrian programs to their child and adult populations.
